So your u3415w is either running well below its native resolution, or below the standard 60 hz refresh rate, or both. I got this dock so i can use dual monitors and its not working as it says it should. Not if you follow the specifications for dvi.

Updated to 10.14.6 nothing worked. The monitor is not detecting a signal from the computer because the computer is not detecting that there is a monitor plugged in.

This goes for most adapters but if you have an adapter that converts a displayport into several different port types e.g., hdmi, vga, dvi, etc, you may need to turn it. Connect the hdmi end of the dvi to hdmi adapter cable to the hdmi input connector on the back of the tv.

Dvi works but hdmi does not the reason why the outlet needs to be properly grounded for a surge suppressor/ ups to work is because when there is a large power surge, for whatever reasons, the surge suppressor/ups has special electronic components that when it senses a large power surge it shorts out directly to ground bypassing whatever is connected to. You cannot use a dvi port and adapter to connect an hdmi cable to your console.

So it looks like somehow, the processor in the dvi to vga converter doesnt care about some pins or signals in the dvi connector when it converts and produces vga. In my case its hdmi to my monitors dvi.
